SMS Marketing: Pro’s And Con’s

As a growing business, you should innovate when running marketing campaigns. You don’t need to spend large amounts of capital for effective marketing. SMS Marketing lets you send product and brand-related messages directly to your target audience.

SMS messaging is one of the most effective ways to communicate with people who already have your products or may be interested in buying them. Like any other form of marketing, SMS marketing has pros and cons. These are listed below:

Benefits of SMS Marketing

No internet required

This is one of the biggest benefits of using SMS marketing. Although most use the Internet daily, only some have regular access. Many people in the country’s rural areas have poorer internet access or live in places where connectivity is limited.

The great thing about SMS is that you can use the message regardless of the internet connection or cell phone data limit.

Custom Messages

SMS messages are private. You can craft the message to make each customer feel like it’s addressed to them personally. This inspires loyalty to your brand and makes customers immediately buy your product or service.

Inexpensive

If you’re a medium-sized business, you’ve had some success over the past few years. However, you still need to be mindful of what you’re spending if you want to stay competitive.

SMS marketing is cheaper compared to email marketing. It costs very little money to send short text messages. Even if you outsource this activity, you will likely get a bigger return for a small investment.

Fast answers

The nature of SMS messages and SMS newsletters allows customers in your target audience to read and respond to the message immediately. It’s exactly the kind of interaction you want.

Disadvantages of SMS Marketing

SMS must be short

One of the major disadvantages of SMS marketing is that your message is limited to 160 characters. This cannot be easy when you want to give customers details about your products and services.

It would be best to devise creative ways to communicate your message within these constraints. The more dependent you are on this form of marketing and SMS tools, the more expertise you need to produce short and meaningful messages – which costs money and time.

It can be spam

You have to be careful about how many SMS text messages you send. After a while, your bulk SMS can seem spam, and nobody likes spam. Make sure that every message you send matters.

It can be challenging to engage your audience.

It cannot be easy to get customers to reply to their messages. Your first challenge is getting customers even to open your message.

As you can see, SMS marketing offers many benefits. To get the most out of it, you should be aware of the downsides and take steps to mitigate them.
